Read on to find out more about the reasons behind chapped lips and how to take care naturally…
Chapped lips can be one of the serious reasons to worry about. Like our face, lips are too exposed to external elements like sun, wind and cold weather. At times chapped lips can be a regular occurrence or can happen with weather conditions like in winters. Our lips do not contain oil glands and therefore are much more sensitive than the skin of our face.
As chapped and dry lips can be annoying, it can also worsen the health of lips which can lead to bleeding and many other concerning issues.
So, how can you prevent chapped lips and take care naturally?
- Use a non-petroleum lip balm:We all use lip balms to get those soft pink lips, unaware of its ingredients and hence with gradual use it makes our lips dark.
- Regular exfoliation is important: Mix 1 teaspoon of sugar with 2 teaspoons of coconut oil and gently massage your lips with this mixture. Use only your fingers. This acts as a natural exfoliator for smooth and soft lips.
- Stay hydrated both internally and externally: Winters are always dry and chilling causing an extreme drop in temperature, thus staying hydrated is a must. Keep your lips soft by applying natural moisturizer enriched lip balm and drink sufficient water to avoid dehydration.
- Avoid licking your lips: Every time you lick your lips, you dry them out which causes more licking. Rather keep your lips moistened by applying lip balms or oils like coconut oil, olive oil or cocoa butter.
